The new Mercenaries of Trarthus League, released on June 13 with patch 3.26.0, brings new content to Path of Exile, focused on combat tactics, customizable allies, and valuable rewards. Here are some highlights:


Renown System
By battling mercenaries found in the game’s zones, you accumulate Renown points—up to three. Each victory increases your prestige level, while defeats or abandonments reduce your progress. With higher Renown, you attract Infamous Mercenaries, more difficult enemies that grant greater rewards, such as rare and unique items with special modifiers.


Recruiting and Combating Mercenaries
During your journey, you may encounter Trarthan NPCs. Each encounter offers three options: hire them as an ally, take an item from them, or banish them from the area. All choices lead to combat. Upon victory, you receive the corresponding reward. You can keep up to three mercenaries in reserve, with one active at a time. They have their own stats, builds, and can be equipped with items that respect their characteristics. Mercenaries do not evolve over time — to get stronger versions, you must search higher-level areas.


Exclusive Gems and Items
The league introduces new “Trarthus” gems, which are modified variants of classic abilities, offering new playstyles. More than 20 unique items specific to this mechanic have also been added, as well as five new divination cards. These items are obtained specifically through mercenary encounters, encouraging exploration and constant challenge.
